A Prosperous Business in a Shrinking Industry

I did this simple little website for Precision Camera Works a couple of years ago. I think it cost around $2500 plus some cameras and repair work in trade. However, amongst camera repair websites it has no peer, and owner Bob Watkins tells me that, “Since the website came on, most of my business is coming from the internet.” and that, “I’ve had to hire two new people and move into a larger location.”

The main reason for this is that Bob Watkins does a great job, which leads to repeat business and word of mouth referrals. But when a customer doesn’t know Bob or his reputation, they end up basing their decision solely on the website. The camera repair industry is small and shrinking further. But Precision Camera Works is prospering because they invested time and money into building the best website in their category.

Dealing directly with business owners that trust me is one of the most satisfying aspects of my job. It also saves a tremendous amount of time, money, and aggravation compared to doing the same sort of project for a committee. Which goes a long way in explaining why small businesses are leading the American economy.
